Volumetric Weighing Explained

When sending a parcel to Australia, you are charged by the greater of the actual or volumetric weight. At parcel to australia.co.uk, we calculate this automatically, so it is important that you enter the correct weight and size into the Quick Quote menu.

Measuring your parcel to Australia

When measuring your parcel to Australia, you must always use the maximum dimensions of each side. This will include any protuberances, as if the parcel to australia had been packaged in a box, as shown in the diagram below.

Volumetric Weight Calculations

  • Packages by Air or UK - L x W x H in CM, divided by 5000 = weight to be charged
  • i.e. actual weight is 3 kilos, size 50 x 40 x 30 CM, divide by 5000  = 12 kilos to be charged.
  • Parcels by European Road - L x W x H in CM, divided by 5000 = weight to be charged.
